Donna has worked at the National Weather Service(NWS) since 1992. She led the NWS
national lightning safety efforts from 2002 until 2014. During her leadership, she
expanded the lightning safety team membership, was instrumental in developing more public
service announcements, increased funding for the program, and developed outreach and
educational materials. She focused efforts on educating the public about misinformation
about lightning and on the long-term effects lightning survivors often experience.
